This website is composed of several pages, each dedicated to a historical period, from the Roman Empire to the years 2010. The high school students of the ICN option created these web pages entirely using HTML, CSS and javascript scripts to integrate maps from the OpenStreetMap portal.

From Chantonnay to London, passing by La Roche … in song

On 4th and 11th December the Erasmus students of our school had an opportunity to discover La Roche sur Yon and Nantes.

On Tuesday 4th December, the students spent an afternoon working on the history of La Roche sur Yon in the regional archives of the town. They participeted in various workshops and visisted the site thanks to its school service staff.

In the evening the students went to the Grand R theatre to watch « The Beggar’s Opera ». It’s a new version of the « balad opera » written by John Gay in 1728 and considered as the first musical ever whose story takes place in the underworld of London. Our students attended its modern version, produced in 2018 by Ian Burton, Robert Carsen and William Chrisite which takes place in London nowadays.

Both activities were open to other students and teachers of our school. 11th December, another group of students watched the same musical, this time at the Graslin theatre in Nantes.

Evaluation of Language Skills – English Test

An evaluation test was carried out at the beginning of the project implementation. The next
part is due to be done after the project completion, after the second year. The main aim was to
check the students’ competences and English language skills. Each student was given an
authentic text about urban development of modern cities. There were 3 tasks .

The first one was vocabulary test checking the students’ knowledge of some specific professional . The words and phrases. The next task required overall comprehensive skills-how much the students understood. The last one refered to problem solving. Given an open question, the students were asked to provide their own answer based on the text.

The objective of the test was to check the students’ acquisition of specialised, technical texts
on architecture and urban development.

The results were as follows. The vast majority of students did only task 1
which was vocabulary test. Most students found it difficult to do task 2 and 3 which was
understanding the main concept of the text. Students lack the ability to analise or sum up the text.

Evaluation of mobility in Poland

The final step of the mobility in Poland was the evaluation meeting . We got the
feedback information from the students on the basis of a questionnaire refering to
subcategories such as gaining knowledge, developing language skills, being involved in
the project activities and cultural integration. Generally students stated that they were
involved in the proposed workshops and activities. The majority of participants claimed
that they were satisfied with suggested ideas , they improved their communication
language skills and exchanged the culture aspect between the partner countries. Some of
the lectures proved to be too sophisticated and difficult because of their high academic
level. Some students had some difficulties in understanding the lectures and workshops
run in English language because of unfamiliar professional vocabulary.
